SPAY/NEUTER ...IT'S THE
RIGHT THING TO DO!

DID YOU KNOW????
According to sources at PETA, People for Ethical
Treatment of Animals, three to four million cats and dogs are born to die each
year. More than 50,000 kittens and puppies are born each day in the
United States alone. Why
are so many healthy, adoptable cats and dogs dying? The
answer: there are not enough responsible homes for these unwanted animals.
The solution: SPAY/NEUTER!
The Life Cycle for cats and dogs:
* The Humane Society of the United
States, that In 7 years, one unspayed female cat and
her offspring, can reproduce 420,000 cats.
*In 6 years, one female dog and her offspring, can reproduce 67,000
dogs. Spay one cat and stop the birth of 100 unwanted, homeless
kittens. According to All For Animals newsletter, it costs the US taxpayers an estimated $2 billion
dollars each year to round up, house, kill, and dispose of homeless
animals. What's wrong with this picture? Veterinarians take an
oath, 'First DO NO HARM', says Dr. Robert Taylor, DVM. It is morally, ethically and spiritually
wrong to kill God's creatures.
This mind-set of 'tossing a pet' has become an epidemic
in this society. If a cat or dog doesn't work out 'getting rid of
it' is NOT the right solution. Bringing a house pet to a kill
shelter is selfish and
mean-spirited. Some 'feral' cats and dogs, were house pets,
who were dumped in a park. It is shameful, cruel and against the law
to 'dump' a pet. These pampered pets don't know how to hunt for food
or take of themselves. The worst scenario: tossing to cat or a dog
out the window of a car on the highway! If these unwanted pets
miraculously survive this cruelty, they breed until they perish, or starve
to death. Where is the humanity to respect God's creatures?
Some rescuers TNR=Trap Neuter Release, feed, and
make outdoor shelters for homeless cats. Spay/Neuter first is the
right thing to do. It stops unwanted kittens from being born and
tortured. However, other cat people ONLY feed hungry kitties, BUT do
not spay/neuter. This creates a colony of sickly, inbred cats with
upper repertory infections and runny eyes. Untreated, these feral
cats will go blind. Sadly, many of these inbred kittens and their
siblings are born with Aids/Leukemia or other fatal air born
diseases. These poor little babies suffer, starve to death, are poisoned
or tortured to death. All this is preventable: SPAY/NEUTER is
the solution to the
pet overpopulation crisis we have in America now.
***HOUSE PETS NEED TO BE SPAYED/NEUTERED.
A puppy or kitten can be altered between 4 to six months of age.
Check with your vet. There are health and behavioral benefits to
spaying/neutering your pet. It does settle the hormonal imbalance
for both males and females. Dogs and cats are calmer and more in
balance when they are altered and make better pet companions.
For females health: Spaying can prevent pyometra, which is an
infected uterus, mammary tumors-breast cancer, false pregnancies, Ovarian
and uterine tumors.
For males health: Neutering can prevent testicular and prostrate
cancer, and infection of the testicles.
* The behavioral benefits for male cats: no spraying around with a
pungent stinky order, no roaming, aggression, or biting.
* The behavioral benefits for male dogs: no marking territories with urine
or feces, no aggression, no territorialism being over protective of dog's
home ground, wandering around looking for females, dominance, frustration
and unwanted sexual behavior such as: licking, mounting legs, and
horniness.
* The behavioral benefits for female cats: no night time screaming, no
urinating outside the litter pan, no chronic PMS symptoms.
* The behavioral benefits for female dogs: No heat cycle, no
bleeding.
